The year she missed the margarita
This year makes the 1st year since 2011 that my hubby and I have not traveled to Cancun Mexico. We both still work the grueling 9 to 5 super stressful corporate gigs ( for me add the hours of 7 pm to 2 am to manage both jadorelocks and jewelsbyjadore) so taking a trip to Mexico has always been our go to stress reliever spot. Since we are skipping it this year I am going to share our past experience with you.
This picture reminds me of an authentic margarita with a fresh twist of lime similar to all the ones I missing out on this year ....... you can find my dress here and earrings here
When to Travel
We always travel in May between the 1st and the 14th of the month. Any time after that the kids are out of school and prices start to creep up very quickly. I personally found this time to be cheaper when hunting for plane tickets. If you are not part of a loyalty program I recommend you join one to save on your airline cost. We are skymile members with Delta and have previously traveled to Cancun for 25,000 miles round trip or the equivalent of about $275. Stay tuned for a later blog post on how to score airline tickets for next to nothing.
How to get around
Need a car rental company? I would recommend .....none of them ....you don't need to rent a car. From our resort (most resorts are located in the hotel zone) Round trip to the airport cost about $55 via Taxi and is cheaper if you do a shared ride via companies like Super Shuttle . We took a taxi or the bus during the day as well. To get around the bus cost $1 to get to the nearest mall and a taxi at night to the local bar or club will run about $10 to $15.

Where to stay
Over the year's we have stayed at several all inclusive resorts in Cancun however hands down Secrets the Vine was the absolute best. This chic, contemporary adults-only AAA Four Diamond Resort offers everything you can possible imagine.(if you are bringing the kiddos with you checkout the kid friendly Dreams resort) I could probably write a full blog post on the amenities that this gem has to offer but here are just a few of my favorites. Lets start with the private infinity pool pictured above which was accessible to certain guest on designated floors. I loved this concept because it was perfect for those afternoons when we wanted a quieter space to relax.
Next up on my favorites list was the peacefulness of our ocean view junior suite. Most nights we would pull the brown curved lazy chair pictured above outside and fall asleep to the crashing sounds of the ocean waves.
Another favorite were the picture perfect spots like this one to snap an epic selfie or 10.
Things to do at the Resort
Unlike our other adventures Mexico for us means epic relaxation to the core without a lot of movement or fuss!!! with that being said picking the right resort is important. At Secrets the Vine you get to experience Luxury at a different level.

Things to do Outside of the Resort
Cancun has a countless amount of activities to do outside of the resort here are 3 must try according to your truly :)
Visit the Chichén Itzá- a Mayan archaeological site and one of the most notable landmarks on the Yucatán it is now considered one of the new Seven Wonders of the World
Xcaret Park - which is the newest eco-archaeological park in Cancun and Riviera Maya
Lastly , my most memorable activities that we participated in.
The Interactive Aquarium is a place where you can feed and ride the dolphins. It was such a fun experience. you can book your tour before you arrive via viator or through the hotel concierge.
