Cocktails and Bikinis ??  I'm outta here !!!

So when my cousin called me to say let's get lost for a day or 7 over the long Memorial day weekend, I instantly obliged. We booked a last minute 5 day trip to Miami Florida. (travel tip - I typically wouldn't travel here on such a busy holiday weekend, due to inflated prices on basically everything. More tips will be provided in an upcoming post) like my shades? you can find them here

How to get around

Want to rent a car ? please don't just hop in an Uber or Lyft it's honestly the easiest and most convenient way to get around the city.

Where to stay

We stayed at the NOBU hotel Eden Roc on Mid-Beach it's South Beach accessible via a $3 Uber ride (if you are up to it grab a bike from the concierge and ride over instead) but still far away from the crowds to enjoy and relax. We scored a well appointed corner suite with floor to ceiling windows and a balcony. Our room was spacious and came with two TV's one in the living room the other pictured above. Stay tuned for my full blog post on scoring a luxury hotel room at an affordable price. Our stay here went off without a hitch and the stunning ocean views from our room were a sight to see.

I have been getting a lot of inquires on my nails via my Instagram page @jewlesbyjadore I will be writing a future post on the best way to keep your nails polished during your travels so be sure to stay tuned

It was pointless during our stay to not walk around in your underwear TRUST me the temperature gets extra hot!!!!! I opted for fashionable colorful beach wear instead. find other colorful vacation options here

The hotel is located across the street from Millionaire's row which is one of the most sought after stretches of real estate in Miami Beach as pictured above. Its pretty much considered rude to not own a yacht and live on this row. (FYI the beach bikes are included in your daily resort fee at NOBU hotel Eden Roc)

Here is a closer look at my super affordable shades you can find them here

Places to eat

The Continental Restaurant for breakfast was a good pick for us their roasted potatoes are twice cooked and delicious pictured above is our breakfast spread.

Thai House was next on our list shame on us because we ate here twice but it was just that good. On both occasions I had the Fried Rice Special which came with chicken, shrimp and crab . This dish was well seasoned and full of flavor (PS if you check in on Facebook you will receive a complimentary glass of house wine )

Miami Fingalicking- OMG I'm not really sure where to start. This was the 1st restaurant we dined at during our trip and I was a bit skeptical however when I walked in I was told by one of the hostess that this was DJ Khaled in that moment I knew it was going to be good. Sure enough the menu did not disappoint from the famous seafood rice packed with crab and shrimp , signature Fingalicking wings (we got extra sauce on the side because it was so tasty) , grilled shrimp, red velvet cake (a note about red velvet if it is a dark red it will taste horrible if it's a light red color you are in for a treat) everything we ate was packed with flavor in a way that kept you wanting to order more. What to expect here, there will be a wait so be patience , you are likely to spot a celebrity (spotted 2 chains while I was there) and lastly exceptionally amazing food.

Things to do

Walk down Ocean Drive there you will find some of Miami's history such as fashion designer Gianni Versace's monumental mansion with its signature gates ( it has been bought and sold several times since his death in 1997 and was recently converted into a restaurant)

While on Ocean drive be sure to catch “the show” at the Palace ….let's just say you are in for a treat remember open your mind always when you travel :)

"Eve and Snake" by Karen Rosenburg .c 2000

A few streets over on Washington Ave. You will find the World Exotic Art Museum you pay a nominal entry fee of $15 to enter. The collection includes sculptures, drawings, paintings, and photographs. The collection ranges from folk art to world known artists and their artwork. The Museum shows artwork from artists like Rembrandt, Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Fernando Botero as well as Robert Maplethorpe, Helmut Newton and Bunny Yeager to name just a few out of more than 4000. Pictured above is one of the most interesting pieces of art I saw while visiting the Museum.

cocktails

There are many things to do in Miami from lounging at the world famous Nikki Beach , water sports , exploring the sobe nightlife or just taking it easy by the pool. It's really up to you on how you would like to spend your travel time. This was my 10th trip to Miami/South Beach (it's only 1.5 hours by plane from home) and each experience has been different.
